- Details of appointment (vote results, links to request pages) or removal (reason, e.g. resignation, inactivity, decease). Grouped by appointment, honourable removal, or other removal, and arranged in this order. Sorted within each group first chronologically and then alphabetically.
- Appreciation for users who are honourably removed.
Notices of major Wikimedia Commons events.

Volunteer staff changes

In March 2025, 1 checkuser was elected; 5 sysops and 1 bureaucrat were removed. Currently, there are Election:

User:The Squirrel Conspiracy was elected (39/0/0) on 20 March.

Removal:

User:Czar was removed on 13 March due to inactivity. They had served as sysop since 15 May 2016.
User:Ellin Beltz was removed on 13 March due to inactivity. She had served as sysop since 28 February 2014 and as bureaucrat since 2 June 2015.
User:Hesperian was removed on 13 March due to inactivity. They had served as sysop since 3 July 2008.
User:MBisanz was removed on 13 March due to inactivity. He had served as sysop since 3 November 2008.
User:Storkk was removed on 13 March due to inactivity. He had served as sysop since 1 March 2016.

We thank them for their service.

An appeal to all Commons users: please consider applying to become sysops or nominating users. Departure of multiple sysops exacerbates Commons volunteer staff shortage. Your experience and passion are much needed.

Other news

Thanks to User:Don-vip, Video2commons was fixed so uploads from Youtube are possible again. This bug impeded Video2commons for approximately two months.
Video2commons is in need of maintainers. Please help keep it running!
